Many tiny flies
in the thick at eye level
rising in the sun smoke

ending under eyelids
dying in the tears.

My Dear Summer,

I'm sure you have found out by now that I have been seeing Autumn for some time now, but things have just gotten serious. I hope you understand that what we had just wasn't meant to last. We shared many good times and your warmth was more than I could have hoped for, but ultimately I'm more of a cool breeze and jacket sort of guy.

I know I told you I loved you, but I was caught up in the moment, in the excitement of your gifts. I will never forget those long days you shared with me, thank you.

Maybe we will meet again some day and rekindle what we had *wink* *wink*.
